It was in the Museum space that the President gave his speech to the population. The small wink for the Arch was this one: “Bravo to the General Council, initiator of the project at the origin of this very beautiful set of the Museum-Archives where we are and that you wanted as the witness of the rich historical past of these islands (…)”.

Our Territorial Collectivity is celebrating the 20th anniversary of the Arche since our museum was inaugurated by the President of the Republic, Jacques Chirac, on September 7, 1999. The archipelago of Saint-Pierre and Miquelon has a rich history, a museographic heritage and archives to preserve and enhance. The particularity of our cultural institution is that it houses both the territory’s Archives Service and a museum, labeled Musée de France.
For 20 years, the Arche has been… events: More than sixty exhibitions designed or hosted (opening of the temporary exhibition room in 2014) Various events: 18 conferences, a symposium and a colloquium (international), about fifteen workshops and courses, 16 shows (hosted or organized), more than thirty various animations (meetings, screenings, book launches, etc. Regular participation in national (European Museum Nights, Archaeology Days, European Heritage Days, Blue Week) and local (Nuit blanche, Europe Week) events.)
